In addition to the Viking longship Islendingur, which sailed from Iceland to North America, components from the Smithsonian Institution exhibition Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga are also on display here. The exhibition aims to provide insight into the journeys of Norse seafarers to the New World (Vínland) around 1000 AD and the settlement of Iceland around 870. The Viking World is only five minutes away from the Leifur Eiríksson international airport.
